Forensic Science

The language department meets those challenges by offering programs that open career opportunities in international business and law, foreign service, translating and interpreting, tourism and teaching. Music – Brass / Percussion / Winds

Students studying Music for Brass, Winds and Percussion have the opportunities to study with teachers who are professional performers, to attend frequent brass, wind and percussion master classes and performances by internationally-known guest artists. Because individual performance skills and experiences in ensemble performance are central to the brass, winds and percussion programs, students may perform with a select wind ensemble, concert band, symphony orchestra, jazz ensembles or basketball bands.

Eight options are available to students who are either looking to improve their playing skills or wanting to learn to teach others how to play: performance, pedagogy, history/literature, theory and composition, accompanying and music education. Emphases in special music education, vocal, keyboard and instrumental music are offered, as well.

Music – String Performance

The string performance major focuses on performance and musical development and includes the general education components of university studies. In addition to the regular courses, the string faculty also offers specialized classes, including String Pedagogy, Managing Performance Stress, and Jazz Improvisation for Strings.

Music – Vocal Performance

Wichita State offers several degrees in vocal performance to prepare graduates to teach and perform professionally. Students have the opportunity to perform in six different vocal ensembles, ranging from opera to choirs to madrigal groups.
