The study of science and the humanities is the foundation of the curriculum at most American colleges and universities. These studies prepare students to engage in a wide range of issues which lead to a fulfilling life and responsible citizenship.
In addition, most employers value the skills which a study of science and the humanities fosters: effective communication, scientific inquiry, mathematical literacy, critical thinking, global perspectives, and diligent research.
The College of Humanities Sciences offers

Many of these majors have elementary and secondary education options where students can earn the credentials to teach these subjects in public schools.
The Pre-Law program and the Pre-Medical Professions program are housed in the College of Humanities and Sciences. In addition, faculty members in the College teach a large portion of the UMHB Core Curriculum: Biology, Composition and Rhetoric, Chemistry, Foreign Languages (American Sign Language, French, Japanese, Italian, Spanish), History/Political Science, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology and Speech.
